62 Castlegate, Newark

62 Castlegate was rennovated between 2003 and 2004. Prior to that the house had stood derelict for a number of years. The house was originally built in the eighteenth century as a two roomed cottage consisting of a main parlour/kitchen and an attic bedroom. In the nineteenth century it was extended upwards and backwards. Leaded light windows were replaced with sash windows.

The house was listed as a building of historic importance, and it has been rennovated in a way that not only reflects the building's heritage but also makes it a comfortably home for the standards of the twenty first century.
